Modern Family House

Modern Family House is a contemporary brick residence in Kaunas, Lithuania, defined by the contrast between a protective street façade and an open relationship with the surrounding landscape. Facing the street, the house appears as a restrained and largely solid volume. Its elongated proportions and carefully positioned openings create privacy, while the architecture gradually becomes lighter towards the garden, where expansive glazing connects the living spaces with the natural setting. Handmade brick gives the building its distinctive material identity. Long horizontal masonry lines reinforce the proportions of the house, while subtle variations in colour and texture bring depth to its minimalist form. The result is a precise yet tactile architecture—private towards the street and open to the landscape.
